Voda-Blog : 9/13/07 - TV AND HOME IMPROVEMENT

Hey guys…thanks, as always, for checking in! Hope you have made the adjustment from summer to fall. You know, I say that, but for me, the two just roll together. I think if you don’t have kids, you sort of forget that another school year has started. For me, the calendar is based on the race schedule. I know its fall, not because school buses are back on the streets, but because the Chase is on and football fever is in the air!

Once again, my month has been pretty full. A couple of my big events this past month have been: DirecTV Hot Pass and Tile! Let me explain….

I’ve had the honor of working some races as a reporter for DirecTV’s Hot Pass. It’s a cool idea…viewers who subscribe to the service get to watch the race broadcast but also have dedicated reporters covering 5 teams…and with those 5 teams you hear EVERYTHING they say on the radio. Talk about an inside look and listen! Last week in Richmond, I covered Dale Earnhardt Jr’s mad surge in trying to make the Chase. Next weekend, in Dover, I’ll make my NASCAR play-by-play debut! I’ll be covering Carl Edwards and his team from the DirecTV broadcast booth. I’m stoked about that! And a little insider info…I’ll be throwing back the caffeine, as I’ll have to fly the redeye from Vegas to the Dover area….after hosting the pre-race show for the NASCAR Craftsman truck series race the night before! Which reminds me, have you been paying attention to the truck series?! You’d better! It’s the best title battle in NASCAR. After leading the points for like a jillion weeks, Mike Skinner lost the lead in our last race and now trails Ron Hornaday by 4 points! This one is going to go down to the wire…probably the last turn of the last lap in Homestead. Be sure to check out the remaining races…only 8 to go! Tile, you ask? Well, we are renovating our house. (I could write an entire book about how overwhelming/frustrating/challenging THAT process has been)! But we reached an important milestone this week…when we finally chose and purchased all of our tile. And when I say all, I mean kitchen, laundry area, entry way, and 3 bathrooms! Thank goodness for Best Tile in Wexford, PA…if you live in the Pittsburgh area, be sure and check them out. I’d still be standing in the store trying to decide if it wasn’t for their experts!

I’ve got lots of cool stuff coming up…some TV and radio surprises in the next couple of months! Don’t worry…I’ll keep you posted via these blogs, or you can always check out the headlines on this website.

Finally, on a serious note…yesterday was the 6-year anniversary of the September 11th attacks. I cannot imagine what the families who lost loved ones continue to go through, even today. For all of them, and for the men and women who serve in the military…and spend each and every single day fighting and sacrificing for our freedoms…please take a moment to say a little thank you. I don’t think we can ever do that enough!
