Voda-Blog : 8/15/07 - NASCAR n' the Crue!
Now we’re talking! See…I told you I’d get on the ball and start checking in with you guys on a regular basis. I can’t believe the summer months are almost over..I mean, my nieces and nephews will be heading back to school in less than 2 weeks!
This month has been plenty busy. I’ve been doing radio shows…writing articles…and, of course, covering the truck series. Next week, I’ll be in Michigan hosting the 3M Car Care Auto Fair. As title sponsors of the race, 3M does it up big and puts on a cool show out in the hospitality area. After that, it’s on to Bristol where the trucks will put on the first show on the new pavement! You’ve gotta tune in to see that…and remember, the race is middle of the week…Wednesday! Our pre-race show, the Set-Up, is on Speed at 7:30 Eastern. As the chase heats up, I hope to be involved with more shows on Speed. Keep your fingers crossed!
Oh, I forgot to mention, last month I joined Jeff Gordon at an appearance in Pittsburgh.
Jeff was in town representing one of his associate sponsors, Nicorette, whose parent company, GlaxoSmithKline, is headquartered in the ‘Burgh. I emceed the event and, of course, talked to Jeff all about his new baby girl, Ella Sofia…who had been born just 5 days earlier!
I really enjoy working events here in Pittsburgh, as it allows me to be involved with the community…something that’s often hard to do when you’re traveling every week.
Celebrity spotting of the week…Vince Neil, the lead singer from Motley Crue. I didn’t see him, but some of the guys from our truck series production staff were at the same restaurant as him in Nashville last week. They said he even bought them a round of tequila! So, that got me thinking…yep, top five. My top five all-time favorite Motley Crue songs:
1.
Same ‘Ol Situation
2.
Angela (kinda out there, not many people know it…but I’ve always loved it)
3.
Without You (I know, another random one!)
4.
Smokin’ in the Boys Room
5.
Dr. Feelgood
I found out after the race, that Vince performed with Quiet Riot and Slaughter the previous night. What? And I missed it?! It’s a good thing Winger and Firehouse weren’t on the ticket or I’d be kicking myself right now!
Ok, gotta run. But as always, thanks for watching...reading…and listening! And guess what, Hollie saw her shout-out from the last post…so on her behalf…I’ll “holla” at you next month!
