Voda-Blog : July 2009 - Fourth of July Reflections
Hello again!

Hard to believe it’s already July…especially when I look at my pale skin and realize I don’t even remember the last time I was poolside?! (Note to self: Find time for a swim!)

The biggest thing that I wanted to mention this month…or at least the big thing that is on my mind…is this:
Wouldn’t it be nice if we spent half as much time reflecting on the lives of our fallen military personnel as we’ve spent reflecting on Michael Jackson?

Don’t get me wrong. Jackson was an amazing performer and talent. His music spanned multiple generations. And when I think back to playing music on my parents’ stereo system (not really a system actually, more like a relic…can you say 8-track player?!), it always includes The Thriller album.

But, for me, I’d rather hear the personal stories of the 19-year old who followed in a father’s footsteps and joined the Marines...Army…Navy…Airforce…Coast Guard…or National Guard.

He…or She…is the reason we get to eat a funnel cake at the county fair, go to a baseball game on a Tuesday, and…if I ever get around to it….take in some rays poolside!

Happy 4th of July…it’s always been one of my favorite holidays!

Best Wishes,
Krista
