Hey everybody….how’s it going?
The last month has been pretty busy. Obviously, the bulk of my work has been covering the Sprint Cup series each week for FOX…but off-the-track, most of my work has centered around outdoor projects. Landscaping, Excavating, Sewer Installation….seriously!
Ok, I confess….I didn’t really do any of the, umm, well…crappy work. But I did have a checklist of tasks to tackle. My biggest project was re-doing the back patio….or at least, taking it apart. Since we had to tear up the yard anyway, due to the sewer line, we decided to do some “minor” excavating of the backyard, which included re-shaping the back patio. So my job? To pick up each of the zillion omni stones and load them onto pallets. Basically, it sucked. But after awhile, it became my mission to finish the whole thing. Happy to say, I did!
Once the omni stone was out of the way, the guys jumped into the “big toys” and began moving dirt. At one point, I had an excavator, a backhoe, and a skidsteer sitting outside my window! Not to be outdone, I made sure I took my turn doing some digging, operating the backhoe for one afternoon. I’m pretty sure I simply doubled the amount of work needed to be done! We also took out some trees that had been damaged during a windstorm. Speaking of windstorm, it sort of looks like one just hit! Now I really need to clean up some of the debris that’s scatted all over the yard.
Mentioning windstorms, reminded me about something serious....my thoughts are with everyone down in the Myrtle Beach area. At least 70 homes have been destroyed by raging fire. My best friend, who lives in Canyon Country in Southern CA, has to deal with wildfires often….I never expected some of Phil’s family would be dealing with it in Myrtle Beach. I hope everyone stays safe!
Next month is my craziest on the calendar. I will once again be co-hosting the All-Star broadcast with Jeff Hammond. It will be our 3rd year anchoring Speed’s signature event together. And when Hammond’s involved, you never know what to expect! I love it!
Oh, I’ll also be working with Steve Byrnes and John Roberts for the kickoff event that week, Sprint’s O.A.R concert in downtown Charlotte. I’ve been to their shows before…they are a phenomenal band out of Columbus, OH. I know we’ll have a blast with all of the fans that night. Hopefully, I’ll see some of you at the racetrack! If not, no sweat….keep watching on TV and I’ll keep you posted here and on Speedtv.com!
Best Wishes,
Krista
