Voda-Blog : October 2010 - A Great Weekend of Racing & Football
Wow! What a great weekend!

Kansas Speedway is one of my faves…love being back in the Midwest. Especially nice when fans from Iowa come up and say hello. There were tons of you who joined us at The Speed Stage for “Trackside” Friday night. Thank you…hope I was able to get to each of you to say hi after the show!

Speaking of Iowa…big win for the Hawkeyes yesterday. Especially poignant since I live in the middle of Penn State-territory. You know, when you move away, you really appreciate things that remind you of home, even more. I mean, celebrating with other Iowa fans would be great…but there’s something equally fulfilling about standing on your own in hostile surroundings! For the record, because I had someone ask, Yes…I went to the University of Northern Iowa…No, I’m not turning my back on UNI. In fact, if the 2 schools were playing each other, I’d be proudly wearing my purple and gold (just like I did 2 years ago when the underdog Panthers nearly upset the Hawkeyes). BUT…for me, the Hawkeyes represent the entire state. And when you live and/or travel to other places, where people have never met anyone from Iowa, let alone been there themselves, well…YOU, yourself, become representation for the state, too. So, it’s my job to step up and say….Way to go, Hawks!

And you know what’s even more ironic? Look back at my blog from last month? I challenged Coach Ferentz to live up to the hype. So far, so good!  (PS…the Panthers won this weekend, too!)

So, what else do we have to look forward to this month?

You KNOW I’ve got Halloween circled on the calendar. The votes have been tallied…and our Camping World Truck Series crew is ready to rock the costumes at Talladega! Rumor is, we’ll be doing a bonus “Trackside” that weekend, too! So tune in…or stop by The Speed Stage for that…AND/OR in Fontana and Martinsville…plus, on the grid for those truck races!
