Voda-Blog : 10/29/07 - APPEARANCES, HOT DOGS & HALLOWEEN
Hi everyone! I love this time of year…the colors of the leaves, the crisp air, and of course…the drama of NASCAR’s ensuing season’s end. Looks like both the Craftsman Trucks AND Nextel Cup series could go down to the last lap in Homestead.
(And remember, the trucks didn’t have their points re-set)!
As the season winds down…my schedule has been filling up!
This past month, I got to take part in a few really great events where I met some wonderful people. Like the incredible women at Ganassi’s Ladies Night celebration. The event included a fashion show, gift bags, plus h’ourdreves and wine!
(Quite a different menu than the Jesse Jones hot dogs served in Martinsville.)
PS…Did you guys see Dario Franchitti eat his very first Martinsville hot dog live on Speed during the truck broadcast? My pit spotter, Walter Cox, had been carrying that thing around for about 50 laps! I apologized immediately after handing it to Dario…as I’m sure it was anything but hot. Dario took half. And yes, Walter ate the other half!
While in Atlanta, I was invited to speak at Rising Starr Middle School in nearby Fayetteville, GA. Hello to all of the amazing 8th grade students I met last week…Atlanta’s future is in good hands, as these kids asked some really fantastic questions!
So what’s up in November? PRN…Best Damn Sports Show…and Speed’s Homestead headquarters! While in Texas, I will join the Performance Racing Network as a pit reporter for both the Busch and Nextel Cup races. Pretty cool cameo, huh?!

The following week, before traveling to Phoenix, I will fly to L.A. for a guest appearance on The Best Damn Sports Show Period. It’s been 3 years since I’ve been on the show, and I look forward to the return.
After the Phoenix truck race, it’s off to Miami…immediately! I will be at the track all week for Speed’s live reports from Homestead, beginning a full week before the season finale. Be sure and tune in all week, beginning Sunday night…as I’ll be checking in live from Homestead during the Victory Lane broadcast from Phoenix. Now that’s coast to coast coverage! Oh…and then, just a day after the 2008 Nextel Cup champion is crowned, Rick Allen and I will be co-hosting the first awards banquet of the postseason…the Craftsman Truck Series Awards Banquet from Hollywood, FL.
On the house front, I can’t wait to tell you guys my hardwood installation stories. Let’s just say, I’m no Bob Villa! (I was hoping osmosis would take over…since we bought the hardwood he promotes)! But the finished product looks great…thanks to Lumber Liquidators!
Ok, maybe I’ll share those stories next month.
Until then, have a great Halloween…one of my all-time favorite holidays!
