Voda-Blog : September 2010 - Falling for Autumn
The weather becomes a bit brisk, leaves are crisp, and football pads are crunching against each other. One of my favorite times of the year!
Of course, for NASCAR fans that means The Chase is on! For me, this year, the final 10 races take on new meaning. Now that “I’m keeping the seat warm” for Steve (as I like to say) on Trackside, I’ll be following the races and storylines more intently than ever. Can’t wait to see who picks up the last couple of spots. One thing I’d really like to see happen…Jeff Gordon win a race before seasons-end. He and his team deserve it.
On the truck side, there are 2 things that are still making me shake my head this year. One: Mike Skinner, at least heading into September, has yet to win a race. Two: The championship battle has breathing room. Don’t get me wrong, the truck series has some great points battles….but it appears this one is Todd Bodine’s to lose. And he has some great tracks…Vegas, ‘Dega, Texas, Homestead…still to come! The Onion is making the rest of the field cry, for sure!
Speaking of crying, I hope the Iowa Hawkeyes AND The UNI Panthers make some other teams shed some tears this year! The Hawks are ranked high, and Kirk Ferentz just signed a deal that makes him the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten. Hope last year’s Orange Bowl was just the beginning…time to deliver, boys!
Other fun stuff coming up in the next couple of months…some great concerts, a visit to Walter Reed Medical Center, and of course, the highly-anticipated 3rd annual Talladega Halloween Set Up. Got an idea for our costumes this year? There’s a poll on twitter @NCWTSonSpeed. Of course, if you have any thoughts or feedback regarding any shows…Trackside…or The Speed Report…and includingThe Set Up…be sure and shoot me an email, via this website! I always love hearing story ideas from the people who really matter…the fans!
Smile and enjoy those crisp leaves underfoot….despite when they pile up thick across your driveway!
Krista

One of the upcoming stops for Krista and the SPEED crew is New Hampshire, where Krista got to meet one of Boston's favorite sons, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler.
Krista chats with Tony Stewart during a SPEED broadcast several years back on Halloween weekend, back before the SPEED crew got into costume for their Halloween shows.
