Voda-Blog : February 2010 - Packing For Daytona

Hi guys…

Hard to believe I’m packing my bags for Daytona…seems like we were just in Las Vegas, celebrating, and reflecting on, the 2009 season. Now, in a few short days, cars will hit the track for the start of 2010! Where does the time go?!

Even though I NEVER get all of my projects completed in the off-season, I’m anxious and excited to start another year with NASCAR on Fox and Speed.

My Daytona activities begin with Bud Shootout practice on Thursday…and continue all the way through the Daytona 500 on Valentine’s Day.

(How many cheesy Valentines’ lines/references do you think I’ll use throughout the week?!)

Speaking of love and hearts and all of that jazz….my off-season was pretty special this year. Phil and I got married! Only took us about half-a-decade to get around to it!

You’ve probably heard Hammond or Byrnes or Larry Mac refer to him on-air…they all call him PK. They’ve known him even longer than I have, as he’s worked in the biz for a looong time.

Our wedding was a blast…lots of friends and family traveled in, (including Dick Berggren, Rick Allen, and several Speed buddies), and we celebrated til the early hours of the AM. It was a beautiful January day in Pittsburgh…and that’s not always easy to achieve!

PK and I have joked that we are spending our honeymoon in Daytona. Trust me, we are just joking! I picture something a little more tropical down-the-road!

Honeymoons, Hearts, Hair-raising Hijinx on the High-banks of Daytona…let the party begin!
