Voda-Blog : Ramping Up for Daytona
This time last year, I was about to get married.

Flash-forward 365 days….and I’m getting ready to head to Daytona for pre-season testing.  And it won’t be long after that before we’re setting up a temporary address in Daytona for Speedweeks 2011.

So what did you do and/or accomplish in the off-season?

It seems like we were just in Las Vegas for the awards ceremony, doesn’t it?  Following the banquet, and I mean the NEXT DAY, my husband and I were off to the Dominican Republic for a wedding. Congrats to Brandon and Amy! Gotta love those NASCAR weddings…always held in December or January! This one was a beautiful beachside throwdown!

Back in the States, I was honored to emcee Ryan and Krissie Newman’s Foundation dinner. They raised a ton of money for animal welfare charities, and plans are already in place for next year’s dinner and fishing tournament!

After a trip to Myrtle Beach for Christmas at the in-laws, I sunk into some downtime. And loved every minute of it!

January has been filled with meetings, conference calls, and the occasional Speed gig.
Had a blast hanging out with Tommy Kendall for our Speed Performance Awards shoot. Be sure to tune in during Speedweeks to see who won the awards. It’s like The Golden Globes, but we are SO MUCH nicer than Ricky Gervais! (Although, I’ve always liked his humor.)

I’m excited to begin my 5th year with NASCAR on Fox…and my 10th year with Speed!
My Daytona activities begin with Shootout practice on Friday…and continue all the way through the Daytona 500 on February 20th.

A couple of big events on my Daytona radar…the Gatorade Duel on Thursday February 17th and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season-opener on Friday February 18th.

I will once again be co-hosting our Duel coverage with Jeff Hammond. And…don’t forget about those trucks. Last year, over half of the field was in the garage halfway thru the race! I can’t wait to once again get you “Set Up” with the truck series pre-race show on Speed, all season long!

Whether you’ve spent the winter months on a ski slope, digging out from an unexpected snow, or just enjoying some well-deserved downtime (you know YOU deserve it, too!)….I hope you’re ready to shake things up and come along with us at NASCAR on Fox and Speed for  another wild ride in 2011!

As always, thank you to each of you for following me…on Facebook, Twitter, and on TV. I value each of your opinions…and welcome your feedback!

Krista will be co-hosting coverage of the Gatorade Duels at Daytona with Jeff Hammond again this year.
